Hamilton Estates luxury resort development started in Nevis, West Indies.
April 24, 2004--Nevis has long been the hideaway vacation ground of the rich and famous, from 18th century Lord Nelson to Princess Diana and her sons. The islands exclusivity and accessibility has always attracted a select few. Nevis, also known as the “Queen of the Caribees,” is part of the Leeward Islands in the West Indies. Hamilton Estate is situated a mile and a half east of Charlestown, birth place of Alexander Hamilton, on the lower slopes of Mount Nevis, giving it’s residents the benefit of cool mountain breezes, and fabulous ocean views from its 500’ elevation . The land surrounding Hamilton Estate, an eighteenth century sugar plantation that ceased operation in 1951, has been cleared and the first building is well on the way to becoming the islands latest new luxury residence.
When the resort is completed in 2007, Hamilton Estate will feature 26 homes on large lots all featuring beautiful 360Ú views of Mt. Nevis, the blue water of the Caribbean Sea and striking sunsets. Additionally, the complex will boast 24 luxury condos, a clubhouse with restaurant, lounge, reception and bar area, spa center with tennis courts and swimming pool, and the preserved site of the Hamilton plantation sugar mill. The ruins include foundations of a Great House, the volcanic stone windmill tower, cistern and chimney, boiling house and a 19th century steam engine, all of which will be preserved and have been incorporated into the layout and design of the grounds!
Hamilton Estate is ideally situated on the west side of the island, approximately 20 minute drive from the Nevis airport. Units are currently being offered exclusively through Contempo Real Estate. Condominiums range in size from 1041 sq. ft, and are priced from only the low $300k’s! The homes will feature 2 story Caribbean style floor plans ranging in price from $750k to $1.5 million plus, all specifically designed to maximize surrounding views of the islands’ natural beauty and all with private pools and large verandahs. Management and rental of the estate homes will be available, as will boat and car rental, and internet connection. The grounds will be well staffed and secure. Island activities include scuba diving, wreck diving, windsurfing, sport
fishing, day sailing, shopping, tennis, horseback riding, hiking and an 18 hole championship Robert Trent Jones II golf course. The nearby island of St. Kitts, which offers a casino and a larger town center, is easily reached by a daily ferry.
The project is currently overseen by Jorn Eivik, Project Leader of Carino Nevis Ltd. and is on target for a Spring 2007 completion date. Hamilton Estate is a joint venture between the Nevis Island Administration and Carino Nevis Ltd. The partnership aims to develop a residential tourism project at Hamilton Estate.
